Autumn in Papa

This fall was a special time for our family, with all 3 children finally in the same school (score!) and lots of visitors and travel on the schedule. The hubby played the homebase hero for me twice – staying home solo with the kids while I spent time with family and friends. I went away solo to Slovenia with friends for a long weekend and later I traveled to France with my mom and sister for a whole week! He held down the fort and managed all kinds of events from birthday parties, Halloween, PT conferences and talent shows to after school sports, Christmas markets and fundraisers. As often as I pull double duty as mom and dad, it is rarely during such a busy season. Everything went off without a hitch and I couldn’t be more grateful for the awesome teammate I have in big D. We also took a wonderful trip to the UK exploring the Cotswolds together during school break. What an amazing Autumn!

An impromptu day trip to Bratislava with a friend – great views, yummy lunch!

A fun anniversary getaway with the hubby in Budapest – we took the train for the first time, had some delicious food and checked out Rudas Thermal baths!

We watched our friends’ four kiddos for the weekend so they could take a well-deserved little getaway to Slovenia!

Seems like there’s always a birthday to be celebrated in our little community…

As our little babies keep growing like dandelions!

We found an awesome apple farm and picked around 70 pounds of apples!

The kids played soccer a couple days per week, and then were excited to move inside for floorball when the weather got too cold.

Amazing sunsets this fall, a “trunk or treat” Halloween party, and fun with international friends at school!

Dear friends Ashley and David visited us after their whirlwind vacation in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Austria! It was sooooo good to see them and for the kids to spend time with them as well!

During the kids’ school break, the hubby had to go to London for simulator training, so we tagged along and did some exploring in the Cotswolds. It was lovely!

Watching a sunset from Broadway Tower in the Cotswolds, UK.

I had a great time with my mom and sister in Normandy and Paris, France! A memorable week together logging lots of miles and loads of smiles!

On the cliffs of Etretat, France.

Beau and Didi performed in their very first Talent Show at QSI, and it was a great experience for them! Although Beau considered singing the first 50 numbers of Pi that he learned and Didi considered jumping on her pogo stick, they both decided to sing with small groups and they did just great.

Beau celebrated his big TENTH birthday by going go-karting with friends. He’s a speed demon!

The Norwegian Christmas Market was wonderful again this year, raising thousands of dollars for people with disabilities in town. A great cause!

I was away for the annual deadlift competition on base, but I sponsored my friend Kellie who came in 2nd this year behind Meryl who continues to impress with PR’s for the win! They made tons of money for charity, and I was psyched to take home a T shirt even though I couldn’t be there.

Ended up with an old school (maiden name) t shirt thanks to Facebook. Feels like a throwback!

Finally, we took a quick turnaround trip to Aviano, Italy to stock up on some American Commissary goods, do a little Christmas shopping and made sure to have delicious pizza (with french fries on it?) and gelato in Pordenone while we were there. It was a great way to tip off the holiday season. And boy is it a busy one! We made it back in time to enjoy a “Friendsgiving” with our friends Meryl & Josh (the best cooks in town) and plan to wind down a bit with travels for a while. Lots of events are happening right here in Papa to keep us busy. We are enjoying the journey!

  1. LOVE THIS! It’s a great overview as I await the more in-depth blog! So impressive how you are keeping up with this, Bri! What comprehensive history of your time abroad. Your kids will bless you for this labor of love! I bless you NOW! XOXO
